Young Elite Club Meets Lost Week Joe Ann Horton was hostess to the Young Elite Bridge Club Fri day night, April 19, in her home an Old Zebulon Road,, Wendell. Rhodes Mrs. Hamm’s mother is still here with them. Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell, the former Mary Jo Pace, visited with us at church last Sunday. Mrs. Ferd Breslau visited her mother, Mrs. Helen Jones, last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Winstead and Paula of Durham, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Jones of Raleigh and Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Breslau and Jill gave Mrs. Helen Jones a birth day dinner a few days ago. Mrs. Jones had a call from her son, Wil liam Y. Jones, who is over seas. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Pace spent the Easter weekend In Wash ington, D. C. They also went to Baltimore, Md., to see the Rev. Vernon Brooks family. Mrs. Jane Hilton of Raleigh is sponsoring a ceramic show Fri day, Saturday and Sunday at the new Brittian’s Shoe Store in Cam eron Village, next to Boylan Pearces. Our Wakefield class in ceramics will have many displays there. Some will be for sale. Mrs. Hilton is our teacher. The class is in full swing each Friday night at Bud Bobbitt’s home in Wakefield. Any one can come. The lessons are all free. All it costs you is what you work with. Reginald Pearce is making and selling all the time. He made a pair of pheasants for the Speaker of the House in Raleigh, and a pair of quails for another. Come and observe if you don’t care to work. Mrs. Marie Bohler of Shelby is in Cleveland Hospital there. She is the daughter of Mrs. Phillips. R. T. Harris is at his home in Wendell after having his leg am putated some weeks ago. He is in a rolling chair now and will be glad to see his friends. Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Sherron visited the Harrises Saturday night. Luther Saunders has pneumonia. He is at his son’s, L. B. Saunders, in Knightdale. Mrs. Sadie Allen is in Wendell Zebulon Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Raper and son visited the W. L. Simpsons last week. Mrs. Bertha Hood spent the weekend with the Allen Hoods in Zebulon. ' Mrs. Bertha Hood and Mrs. Vera Rhodes visited the Fred Hoods and the Thurman Tippetts and then attended open house at Whitley’s Furniture Co. in the af ternoon. Grady Doyle was hurt in a wreck last Saturday, but is at home. The Home Demonstration Club met Wednesday. Rev. and Mrs. C. C. Wheeler and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Goodwin visited their old home churches last Sunday at Holly Springs and Merry Oaks. Miss Estha Martin spent the weekend at home in Wakefield. The professional quilters of Wakefield really quilted two pret ty quilts last week, one for Mrs. Vera Rhodes, a double wedding ring, and one for Mrs. L. R. Tem ple, a large lone star. It will be on display at the show at Whit ley’s Furniture Co. the next few days. Our club still has two mbre for sale at $15.00 each. One is a lone star and one is Joseph’s coat. A finger cut from an old rubber glove and slipped over the top of your broom or mop handle will keep it from falling when leaned against the wall. If you pack the whole family’s sleep-wear and toiletries in one suitcase, when travelling; only one bag needs to be removed from the car on overnight stops. Hales Chapel Mrs. Mamie Creech and Mrs. Jesse Hicks had a house warming last Tuesday night for Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Creech between the hours of 7:30 and 9:30. Frank Chamblee, Calvin Hales and Jesse Driver accompanied the Boy Scouts of this community to Camp Durant Sunday afternoon for an evening of recreation. There were about 13 boys who took the trip. Mrs. Vick Driver and daughter, Pat, attended a family reunion at the home of her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Willoughby of Knight dale, Sunday. Those visiting the Thelbert Creeches Sunday were the Lester Williams family of Hamlet, the' Douglas Creeches and son of Ar- ! cher's Lodge and the Norwood Martins of Pilot. Mr. and Mrs. Randy Creech at tended a Rodeo at Angier Sunday. The Arthur Creeches visited Mrs. Ercell Fowler and family near Zebulon Sunday afternoon. The Ella Price Circle met Wed nesday night with Mrs. Bob Brown. Carlton W. Driver was honored Sunday with a birthday dinner by his parents. Those attending were the Ray Drivers, the Percy Drivers of Archer’s Lodge, the Harold Dri vers, Mrs. Annie Sherron of Zebu Ion, Miss Margie Richardson of Corinth, the Dwight Drivers, and Carmel Wall. Sutton of Seven Springs, Sunday. Miss Jane Vann and Tim Boy ette viewed the State House Sun day afternoon. Diamond Bridge Club Meets With Mrs. Tippett Members of the Diamond Bridge Club were entertained recently by Mrs. Carsey Tippett. Arrange ments of spring flowers were used for decoration. Playing were Mrs. Howard Beck, Mrs. Bernice Bunn, Mrs. Charles Flowers, Mrs. Douglas Finch, Mrs. Norman Screws, Mrs. George Tucker, Mrs. Pat Farmer and Mrs. Frank Kannon. High score prize was presented to Mrs. Kannon, with low going to Mrs. Flowers. After the three progressions the hostess served chocolate cake, sau sages and olives, pickle, party crackers and coffee. During play Cokes and candies were passed. GA Meeting Held On April 5, the Intermediate GA’s of the Zebulon Baptist Church met. Before the meeting was called to order the girls en joyed singing several hymns. Participating on the program were Angela Hood, president; Carolyn Massey, Jane Hinton, Patsy Braswell, Peggy Maiden, Carolyn Perry, Faye Sawyer, and Susan Pippin. Discussions were held on GA summer camp, plans for Focus Week, and the April community missions. Slumber Party Held By GA Organization The Intermediate GA’s of Zebu Ion Baptist Church had a slumber party on March 29. The girls first went to the junior play given by the Wakelon students. Then the girls went to the home of Mrs. R. E. Pippin, one of their counselors where the party was held. There they were served refreshments of Pepsi-Colas, potato chips, assorted cookies, and peanut butter and crackers. Thirteen girls*were pre sent. Dixie News Miss Daisy Narron Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Brown and children of Bethany visited Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Narron and girls Sunday. Mrs. Golus Wood, Mrs. Larsteen Pearce and children of Raleigh visited Mr. and Mrs. Elton Wood and girls, Dianne and Betty Jean, during the weekend. Mrs. Hettie Narron and Joyce visited her daughters and sons-in law, Mr. and Mrs. John Curtis and children of Knightdale and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Dent and children of Youngsville, her son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Ish mael Narron of Knightdale. Little Worth returned home with them for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bailey of Washington, D. C., visited his mother, Mrs. Onnie Bailey and family during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Parrish and son, Leslie, Jr., are visiting Mrs. Parrish’s brother and sister-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow O’ Neal and family, of Crozet, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Narron and* son, Kenny from Richmond, Va., were visiting her mother, Mr. and Mrs. Vester Godwin and family, during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Godwin and Rose of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jones of Newport News, Va., visited Mrs. Omega O’ Neal and Max during the week end. Those visiting Mrs. Hettie Nar ron and Joyce last weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Narron and son, Neal of Zebulon, and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Dent and chil dren, Sue and Wayne of Youngs ville. Mrs. Mary Nancy Johnson is home from the hospital but will return Monday for another eye treatment. Mrs. Sam Narron and son, Rich ard, visited her daughter, Rebec ca of Winston-Salem. She also visited her mother, Mrs. Tom Fin ney of Martinsville, Va., during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan and fam ily of Wilson and Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Johnson and children of Smithfield were guests during the weekend of Mrs. Mary Nancy Johnson. DIRECTORS James Robert Fowler and Thom as F. Monk are members of the board of directors of the Wake County Taxpayers Association. Fowler is serving as treasurer.
